It’s a good book.
A teenage girl goes to a public high school. She is different from everyone else in that she doesn’t care what others think of her and she doesn’t do things others do. She deeply cares for others and even studies people to try to figure out what they may need so she can help them.
After helping people classmates thought she shouldn’t have helped, she is shunned and bullied by them and so is her boyfriend. Her boyfriend can’t take the ridicule any longer and asks her to be like everyone else. She changes for him for a short time and he realizes, too late, that he loves her because of her uniqueness and selflessness. But, by the time he realizes it, she is gone. Her family moved away and he searches his whole life to find her. He feels as though she is still there watching him even though he can’t see her and even receives a sign one day that she’s still there.
